Assistant or Associate Professor – Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Forestry and Environmental Stewardship

About the role

The Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship at the University of British Columbia seeks an outstanding researcher to join as a tenure‑stream Assistant or Associate Professor holding a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair. The role will advance interdisciplinary forestry and environmental science research and contribute to teaching and service on the Vancouver campus.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead an innovative, high‑impact research program in forestry, environmental stewardship, or related natural‑science domains.
• Secure external funding, including Canada Research Chair resources and competitive grants.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate students, and mentor junior faculty.
• Participate in departmental, faculty, and university service activities.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners across disciplines and sectors.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree in a natural‑science discipline relevant to forestry or environmental stewardship.
• Demonstrated record of research excellence and strong potential to build a world‑class research program.
• Commitment to inclusive excellence; applicants must identify as having a disability.
• Ability to contribute to teaching and academic service at the university level.
