Assistant Manager, Human Resources (VCHRI)

About the role

The Assistant Manager, Human Resources supports the VCHRI research institute and its sub‑units by providing expert HR advice, coordinating recruitment and helping shape HR strategy. Reporting to the Manager, Research Operations, this role ensures HR practices align with UBC and Vancouver Coastal Health policies.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver HR guidance on employment matters for VCHRI, Medical Animal Facilities, Clinical Research Unit and other sub‑units.
• Develop and maintain efficient HR operational infrastructure in line with institutional policies.
• Partner with the Manager, Research Operations to set objectives, prioritize initiatives and improve HR processes.
• Lead recruitment activities and support strategic HR projects.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, UBC HR and VCH HR teams to resolve issues and implement best practices.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in human resources management within a research or health‑care environment.
• Familiarity with UBC and Vancouver Coastal Health HR policies and procedures.
• Ability to work effectively with senior leaders and cross‑functional teams.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
