Application Developer

About the role

Sobeys Inc. is seeking an Application Developer to design, develop, and enhance Azure‑based applications and microservices that support core platform functionality. The role will be based in one of Sobeys' main offices and involves close collaboration with DevOps, business stakeholders, and cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Azure‑hosted applications and microservices.
• Integrate third‑party systems and APIs, ensuring seamless data flow.
• Conduct design and code reviews to meet IT standards and quality practices.
• Create unit test plans with detailed test cases and provide accurate effort estimates.
• Optimize Azure resources for scalability, performance, and cost‑effectiveness while adhering to security and compliance standards.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code; promptly resolve bugs and performance issues.
• Provide Tier 2/3 production support, including after‑hours coverage for critical incidents.
• Collaborate with analysts to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation and produce user, operational, and system guides.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant software development experience.
• Solid understanding of SDLC methodologies, including agile/sprint processes.
• Experience with data migration or conversion design and development.
