Animal Care Trainer – Toxicology Team

About the role

Charles River is seeking an Animal Care Trainer to join its Toxicology team in Laval. You will be responsible for delivering hands‑on training to technical staff, ensuring that all animal‑care procedures are performed safely, consistently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Train staff on animal‑room cleaning, restraint techniques, and data recording (body weight, food consumption, clinical signs).
• Assess trainees’ understanding and competency, documenting training records accurately.
• Ensure all activities follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and IACUC regulations.
• Support continuous improvement by updating procedures and communicating changes to supervisors.
• Maintain a safe and humane environment for animals, adhering to animal welfare and health‑safety standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of experience as an Animal Care Clerk or Attendant in a research setting.
• Strong observation skills and the ability to inspire trust through effective interpersonal communication.
• Physical ability to lift up to 20 kg and perform routine lab activities.
