Android OS Engineer – Infotainment

About the role

Join the Infotainment team at Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies to shape the core Android operating system for next‑generation electric vehicles. You will work on foundational OS components, system tuning, and security to deliver a seamless in‑vehicle experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and customize core Android OS components, including frameworks and services for Android Automotive.
• Participate in software design discussions and conduct code reviews.
• Implement and optimise Hardware Abstraction Layers (HALs) for vehicle‑specific hardware.
• Tune system performance, boot time, memory usage, and overall stability.
• Integrate new features, debug complex system‑level issues, and ensure robust inter‑ECU communication.
• Write and review performance‑critical code across core OS modules.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands‑on experience with Android app development and a solid understanding of core Android concepts.
• Proficiency in C (or C++) and Java (or Kotlin) programming languages.
• Strong grasp of core Linux concepts.
