Android Engineer – Contract (Toronto, Hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Android Engineer to join our team on a contract basis in Toronto. You will work in a hybrid setting, collaborating with product and development teams to deliver high‑quality mobile experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to architectural decisions and implement core technology components.
• Translate business requirements into detailed technical designs.
• Participate in product definition, daily scrums, grooming, and story refinement.
• Write robust unit tests covering edge cases, usability, and reliability.
• Use Git for pull requests, code reviews, and branch merges.
• Share knowledge and collaborate closely with teammates.
• Apply Agile Scrum methodologies throughout research, analysis, prototyping, and interface development.
• Identify problems openly and turn them into learning opportunities for the team.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of Android development experience (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android SDK, Java).
• Deep understanding of Android SDK performance, threading, and optimization.
• Experience with Android TV and Chromecast implementation.
• Strong grasp of object‑oriented design patterns and mobile UI guidelines.
• Proven ability to integrate RESTful APIs and work with JSON.
• Experience drafting technical documentation.
• Excellent problem‑solving, risk‑management, and collaboration skills.
