Airport Equipment Operator

About the role

The Airport Equipment Operator supports the Airport Operations Manager in daily airport activities at Lloydminster Airport. The role ensures safe and efficient operation of ground equipment, runway maintenance, and compliance with Transport Canada regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of aircraft movement areas and conduct Canadian Runway Friction Index testing.
• Maintain grass, vegetation, and wildlife control in line with the Airport Wildlife Management Program.
• Carry out runway maintenance, minor repairs, and upkeep of runway lighting systems.
• Operate radios and electronic equipment according to Industry Canada and Transport Canada standards.
• Participate in the Airport Security Program and follow the Airport Operations Manual and Safety Management System.
• Operate and perform maintenance checks on sweepers, snowplows, riding mowers, and other assigned equipment.
• Maintain accurate documentation such as timesheets, equipment inspection forms, and daily work records using computers and mobile devices.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years experience operating light equipment.
• Good physical condition; ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 55 lb, and bend.
• Ability to operate standard and automatic single‑ and tandem‑axle trucks.
• Class 3 driver’s licence preferred; Class 5 with Air Endorsement acceptable.
• Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Required skills

• Light equipment operation (sweepers, snowplows, riding mowers).
• Radio communication and electronic equipment use.
• Computer literacy: Internet, email, Microsoft Word, Excel, data entry, electronic timesheets.
• Map, sketch, drawing, and technical manual interpretation.
