After School Care Provider

About the role

St. John’s School (SJS) is looking for a qualified After School Care Provider to support children in grades K‑7. The role involves creating a safe, engaging environment for students before and after school hours, and collaborating closely with teachers and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the program complies with health, safety, hygiene and safeguarding regulations.
• Plan and deliver age‑appropriate play activities in a caring environment.
• Transport students from classrooms to after‑school care spaces and maintain accurate attendance records.
• Maintain positive relationships with teachers and report to the Lead After School Care Provider and Junior School Principal.
• Monitor resource utilization and keep detailed records of enrolment, behaviour and incidents.
• Provide one‑on‑one and group interaction, using games and activities to engage students.

Required profile

• Basic First Aid certificate and Responsible Adult Certification (20‑hour online course).
• Post‑secondary education in Recreation, Childcare or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in child care or program development and delivery.
• Legal entitlement to work in Canada and ability to pass vulnerable sector criminal background checks.
• Experience managing a variety of children’s behaviours.
