Admissions Coordinator – Undergraduate Admissions

About the role

The Admissions Coordinator supports UBC’s Undergraduate Admissions office by processing applications, evaluating documents, and guiding prospective students through the admission process. This sessional position works full‑time for 7.5 months each year and then moves to a layoff period until the next admissions cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Review and update applicant files in the SISC system, verifying transcripts, test scores and other documents for authenticity and completeness.
• Communicate admission requirements and missing information to applicants and their families, often clarifying complex policies in clear language.
• Make admission decisions for designated applicant groups and consult with Admissions Advisors on unusual cases.
• Assess transfer credit by researching course equivalencies and creating articulation rules.
• Maintain and improve procedural documentation stored on the department wiki.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail for authenticating official documents and detecting inconsistencies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain admission processes to diverse applicants, including those whose first language is not English.
