About the role
The Administration Manager leads the administrative functions of the Haida Gwaii Institute, overseeing finance, human resources, and compliance with university policies. This part‑time, 0.6 FTE position is based on Haida Gwaii and supports the institute’s growth and operational effectiveness.
Key responsibilities
- Provide financial advice to faculty and staff, manage budgeting, revenue tracking, student fee administration, accounts receivable, procurement and expense processes.
- Collaborate on long‑range financial planning and ensure accurate reporting in line with UBC accounting policies.
- Oversee all human‑resource activities, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management and employee relations for the institute.
- Lead procurement and service‑provider negotiations while maintaining compliance with safety, legislative and operational standards.
- Support students and First Nations bands by coordinating program fee payments and delivering adaptive financial solutions.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing financial and HR operations in a university or similar large organization.
- Strong knowledge of university policies, budgeting processes and compliance requirements.
- Ability to interpret and implement institutional procedures and improve administrative systems.
