Accounting Assistant 3 – Finance & Accounting

About the role
The City of Toronto is seeking an Accounting Assistant 3 to join the Seniors Services and Long‑Term Care Division. In this full‑time position you will support revenue, trust, contract administration and procurement functions by handling a range of accounting tasks.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements and statistical reports for capital and current projects.
- Review, analyze and reconcile encumbrances, budget variance reports and cost detail records.
- Calculate subsidy claims and produce ad‑hoc reports for provincial and federal governments.
- Perform accounts receivable duties, including bank deposits, reconciliations and journal entries.
- Process period‑end accruals, closing entries and year‑end adjustments.
- Review general‑ledger expenditures, reclassify and reallocate accounts, and reconcile expenditures.
- Analyze monthly budget variances and provide financial analysis to management.
Required profile
- Experience with accounts receivable and payable processes.
- Ability to prepare journal entries, perform reconciliations and support period‑end closing.
- Strong analytical skills for budget variance analysis and financial reporting.

- Competitive hourly wage ranging from $38.20 to $41.70.
- Full‑time, 35‑hour work week, Monday‑Friday schedule.
