Accountant

About the role

The Accountant will join Haventree Bank’s Finance Operations team in Toronto, supporting day‑to‑day accounting and financial processes for a fast‑growing alternative mortgage lender. Reporting to the Manager, Finance Operations, you will ensure accurate recording of transactions, regulatory compliance and effective stakeholder communication.

Key responsibilities

• Record financial transactions in the general ledger in accordance with IFRS standards.
• Process wire transfers, EFT payments and cheque deposits.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations and weekly GL reconciliations.
• Prepare and submit monthly regulatory filings to OSFI.
• Analyze monthly bank fees and produce broker compensation reports.
• Manage the commission mailbox and coordinate payment remittances.
• Provide cross‑functional backup and support for team members.
• Assist with month‑end close activities, including expense accruals, audits and quarterly reviews.
• Administer the travel and expense management system, including onboarding, user access, expense processing and corporate credit‑card administration.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving ability and capacity to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (preferred).
• Familiarity with Alteryx (preferred).
