Accountant – Finance Team

About the role

Fidus is looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant to join its finance team in Ottawa. You will be responsible for day‑to‑day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting month‑end and year‑end close processes in a fast‑paced, high‑tech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounts payable invoices, employee expense reports, and vendor payments.
• Administer accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, payment application, collections, and follow‑up.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare journal entries and ensure accuracy of general ledger transactions.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end close activities, including account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Prepare financial reports and manage audit requests and documentation.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance or a related field (or equivalent).
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in a similar role.
• Experience with month‑end close processes in a multi‑entity environment.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial processes.
• Excellent organizational, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
