Accountant – Finance Operations

About the role

Green and Spiegel, a leading immigration law firm in Canada, is seeking an Accountant to manage payments, banking, and accounting activities for both Canadian and US offices. Reporting to the CFO, you will ensure accurate financial processing and support the firm’s fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process incoming payments, banking transactions, and trust cash receipts for Canadian operations.
• Respond to external inquiries about invoices, statements, and account balances.
• Collaborate with billing and legal teams to follow up on outstanding invoices and support collection efforts.
• Maintain compliance with the Law Society of Ontario standards.
• Handle US office accounting using QuickBooks, resolve invoicing issues, and prepare monthly financial statements and variance analysis.
• Perform monthly bank and credit‑card reconciliations, including property‑management accounts.
• Prepare client billing, accounts‑receivable reports, and audit files for US and property‑management entities.
• Process vendor invoices through QuickBooks Online, vendor portals, and online banking platforms.
• Investigate variances and discrepancies to ensure report accuracy.
• Perform any additional duties or projects as assigned.

Required profile

• University degree or college diploma in accounting (or related field).
• 3‑5 years of experience in a professional services environment.
• Working towards an accounting designation is preferred.
• Intermediate Excel proficiency.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced setting.

Required skills

• QuickBooks Online (QBO) for accounting and vendor payments.
• Microsoft Excel (intermediate level).
• Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
