Accountant – Calgary

About the role

Qualico is seeking a detail‑oriented Accountant to join its Calgary regional office. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, you will support the business unit by handling day‑to‑day accounting activities and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Post journal entries for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other general transactions.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, reconcile balance sheets and bank accounts, and resolve discrepancies.
• Examine documents and financial records for accuracy and compliance.
• Develop and maintain internal control procedures and guide accounting team members.
• Produce reports and analyses summarising financial status and trends for internal stakeholders.
• Assist with year‑end reviews, forecasting, and budget preparation.
• Provide support for additional accounting‑related tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Diploma or certificate in accounting or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work accurately under volume.
• Team‑player mindset with a proactive, detail‑focused approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint).
• Experience with accounting software such as NewStar or similar.
