Academic Advisor – Arts Faculty Student Success

About the role

The University of British Columbia is seeking an Academic Advisor for the Faculty of Arts. The role supports the academic success, personal development and retention of approximately 14,000 Aboriginal, domestic and international students across undergraduate, diploma and certificate programs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, provide, evaluate and assess academic advising services, programs and projects for the Faculty of Arts.
• Assist in the development and use of information technology related to Arts Academic Advising.
• Design and implement recruiting and retention activities supporting enrolment objectives, including for Aboriginal and international students.
• Participate in office administration and contribute to policy development.
• Hire, supervise and train support staff, peer advisors and work‑study students.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently with initiative and considerable autonomy.
• Experience collaborating with faculty, departmental advisors and student service personnel.
• Demonstrated capacity for wide latitude decision‑making and policy contribution.
