Track Design Lead

About the role

Parsons is seeking an experienced Senior Track Engineer to lead track design for large‑scale transit projects in the Greater Toronto Area. The role combines technical leadership, coordination across disciplines, and mentorship of junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and lead the design and alignment of track infrastructure using AutoCAD Civil3D or MicroStation OpenRail Designer.
• Manage internal designers and engineers, resolve technical challenges, and ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and Parsons QA/QC processes.
• Prepare calculations, design plans, technical reports, specifications, cost estimates, and present them to stakeholders.
• Participate in interdisciplinary design coordination meetings and address critical track‑related issues.
• Mentor junior and intermediate track staff, review and approve shop drawings and technical documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil preferred) and Professional Engineer designation in Ontario.
• 8+ years of track design experience on large‑scale rail transit systems (Class I railways, LRT, commuter rail).
• Proven experience leading track design on interdisciplinary projects and interfacing with civil, utilities, and systems engineering.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and ability to work independently with high attention to detail.

• Dynamo and Navisworks for BIM integration
• Experience with rail alignment, special trackwork, junctions, yards, and facilities design
