Tax Accountant (Entry Level)

About the role

We are looking for a sharp, disciplined Tax Accountant to join our Canadian tax practice. You will work directly with the principal CPA on a diverse portfolio of personal and small‑business tax files, delivering accurate returns and high‑quality bookkeeping. The role is fast‑paced, technology‑driven, and includes a heavy seasonal workload from January to April.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare T1 personal income tax returns for a wide range of client profiles.
• Compile rental income schedules (T776) and self‑employment schedules (T2125), including CCA calculations.
• Identify applicable deductions and credits to optimise client tax positions.
• Maintain client bookkeeping using QuickBooks and spreadsheet tools, reconciling bank and credit‑card statements.
• Prepare and file HST/GST returns, including Quick Method elections.
• Assist with payroll remittance tracking and T4/T4A slip preparation.
• Draft concise tax memos and conduct research on Canadian tax issues.

Required profile

• Highly disciplined and able to work independently without constant supervision.
• Comfortable managing multiple files under tight deadlines, especially during the peak tax season.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to following firm workflows precisely.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to spot anomalies and ensure year‑over‑year continuity.

Required skills

• QuickBooks (Online/Desktop)
• Microsoft Excel
• Familiarity with Canadian tax forms (T1, T2125, T776) and CRA guidelines
