Substations Superintendent

About the role

The Substations Superintendent leads all substation construction activities on the Skyview II BESS Project in Spencerville, Ontario. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Superintendent ensures work is performed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, manage and execute daily substation construction, coordinating with engineering, civil, mechanical and structural teams.
• Develop and oversee Installation Work Packages, Inspection Test Plans, and subcontractor scopes of work.
• Monitor performance of self‑performed crews and subcontractors, tracking productivity and earned value.
• Lead safety and quality initiatives, ensuring compliance with EPC contract requirements, utility standards and regulatory codes.
• Manage on‑site substation operations from notice to proceed through commissioning, testing and turnover.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of electrical construction experience, including 5 years in high‑voltage/substation work.
• At least 5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role on energy, renewables or utility projects.
• Proven ability to lead crews, subcontractors and manage complex site logistics.
• Strong commitment to safety leadership and quality execution.
• Willingness to work on remote project sites for the duration of construction.

Required skills

• High‑voltage electrical construction and substation installation/commissioning.
• Knowledge of MV/HV equipment, switchgear and inverter systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital field tools.
• Understanding of electrical codes, utility standards and EPC contract requirements.

What we offer

• Base salary $130,000‑$160,000 CAD per year, based on experience.
