Student Litter Picker – Campus Clean‑Up Role

About the role

This part‑time position supports the University of British Columbia’s waste management efforts by collecting litter across the Vancouver Point Grey campus. It is designed for enrolled students who can balance work with a full course load.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and safely dispose of litter on campus following Building Operations waste‑management practices.
• Separate recyclables from general litter as required.
• Empty waste into appropriate bins and ensure proper disposal.
• Perform routine ground checks to maintain campus cleanliness standards.
• Maintain daily collection records using provided maps.
• Assist with any additional duties related to the position.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a degree program at UBC with a minimum 18‑credit course load.
• Available to work 7–14 hours per week, in 3–4 hour shifts between 6 am and 2 pm, Monday‑Friday.
• Physically able to walk for extended periods and lift litter bags weighing 10–20 kg (22–44 lb).
• Term appointment with potential renewal starting in September, subject to the same course‑load requirement.
