Shipbuilding Draftsperson

About the role

Robert Allan Ltd. is looking for an experienced shipbuilding draftsperson to join our Vancouver team. You will play a key role in creating accurate engineering designs and supporting the production of high‑quality vessels.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare engineering designs and detailed drawings for shipbuilding projects.
• Read and interpret blueprints to determine work requirements.
• Supervise and mentor other drafting personnel.
• Train new drafting staff on company standards and software.
• Develop and prepare design sketches and concept layouts.
• Complete documentation packages and full drawing sets.
• Examine drawings for conformity, accuracy, and errors.
• Consult with clients, engineers, and production specialists to establish product requirements.

Required profile

• College, CEGEP or equivalent diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting/Design Engineering Technologies, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of drafting experience in shipbuilding or marine construction.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce error‑free documentation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, clients, and production teams.
