Sessional Lecturer – Introductory Genetics (BIO207H5S)

About the role

The Department of Biology at the University of Toronto Mississauga is seeking a qualified Sessional Lecturer to teach BIO207H5S – Introductory Genetics. The successful candidate will deliver in‑person lectures and practical sessions for undergraduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver course content, including lectures and laboratory demonstrations.
• Develop, administer, and grade assignments, quizzes, tests, and exams.
• Maintain accurate grade records and submit final grades on schedule.
• Hold regular office hours to support student learning.
• Supervise any Sessional Instructional Assistants or Teaching Assistants assigned to the course.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated teaching experience in genetics or comparable undergraduate courses.
• Strong academic credentials and ability to engage undergraduate learners.
• Eligibility to work in Canada.

Required skills

• Effective oral and written communication for teaching and assessment.
• Ability to design and evaluate academic assignments.
• Experience supervising teaching assistants.
