Sessional Lecturer – Introductory Cell & Molecular Biology

About the role

The Department of Biology at the University of Toronto Mississauga seeks a qualified Sessional Lecturer to teach BIO206H5F – Introductory Cell and Molecular Biology. This part‑time teaching appointment involves delivering in‑person lectures and laboratory sessions for undergraduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver course lectures and practical lab sessions.
• Develop, administer, and grade assignments, quizzes, tests, and examinations.
• Calculate final grades, submit them on schedule, and manage make‑up examinations when required.
• Maintain regular office hours to support student learning.
• Supervise any Sessional Instructional Assistants or Teaching Assistants assigned to the course.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated teaching experience in cell biology, molecular biology, or comparable undergraduate courses.
• Strong academic credentials and a proven ability to engage undergraduate learners.

Required skills

• Effective oral and written communication for teaching and assessment.
• Ability to design and evaluate coursework and examinations.
• Experience supervising teaching assistants or instructional staff.
