Sessional Lecturer – Earth, Climate & Life (ERS111H5)

About the role

The University of Toronto Mississauga is seeking a Sessional Lecturer I to teach ERS111H5, Earth, Climate & Life. This in‑person, synchronous course explores the integrated Earth system, the evolution of life, and the impact of climate change on ecosystems.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and lead discussions for a class of approximately 150 students.
• Prepare and present course materials, including slides, readings, and practical activities.
• Supervise laboratory or field sessions with TA support.
• Assess student work, assign grades, and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants for practical sections and marking.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Earth Science or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated recent research excellence (within the past four years).
• Prior teaching experience at the university level, with evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., student surveys, letters).
• Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly to undergraduate students.
