Senior System Administrator – 3‑Month Contract

About the role

ARC Business Solutions Inc. is seeking a Senior System Administrator for a three‑month contract in Edmonton. The role is on‑site and focuses on delivering secure, reliable, and optimized IT environments for a diverse client base across multiple industries.

Key responsibilities

• Perform regular client environment health reviews and produce actionable reports.
• Identify and remediate security risks, misconfigurations, and vulnerabilities.
• Develop and maintain documentation standards, runbooks, and SOPs.
• Lead design, migration, and optimization projects for Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.
• Administer Entra ID (Azure AD), Conditional Access, Intune, Defender, and Exchange Online.
• Manage hybrid identity, Azure IaaS workloads, and on‑premises server infrastructure (Windows Server, VMware, Hyper‑V).
• Design and implement network solutions including firewalls, switching, VLANs, SD‑WAN, and VPNs across Cisco, Fortinet, Meraki, Ubiquiti and other vendors.
• Own backup and disaster recovery solutions, including testing and monitoring.
• Conduct security reviews, produce risk reports, and coordinate incident response.
• Support project scoping, estimation, and technical hand‑over for MSP engagements.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in systems administration and cloud services.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on security and operational efficiency.
• Proven ability to work independently on‑site and collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for client reporting.
