Research Coordinator – Frontotemporal Dementia

About the role

We are seeking a Research Coordinator to support clinical and laboratory studies on Frontotemporal Dementia within the Hsiung Laboratory, Division of Neurology at UBC. The role is part‑time (0.5 FTE) for six months, based on the second floor of the Koerner Pavilion in UBC Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Implement study procedures in line with approved research protocols.
• Screen, recruit and obtain informed consent from research participants.
• Conduct clinical, behavioural and neuropsychological assessments.
• Manage the research budget and ensure compliance with sponsor requirements.
• Prepare and submit documents to the Clinical Research Ethics Board and other regulatory bodies.
• Coordinate hospital service and fee approvals for study activities.
• Liaise with the UBC Data Management Core for data collection and troubleshooting.
• Organise collection, storage and shipment of biological samples.
• Assist with the preparation and submission of research grant applications.

Required profile

• Experience in coordinating clinical or laboratory research, preferably in neurology or dementia.
• Strong knowledge of research ethics, consent processes and regulatory documentation.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under tight timelines.
• Effective communication with clinicians, staff and external partners.
