Clinical Director – Practice Ready Assessment

About the role

The Clinical Director will lead the Practice Ready Assessment – British Columbia (PRA‑BC) program, an assessment pathway for internationally educated family physicians seeking licensure in BC. Reporting to HEABC leadership, the Director ensures the program’s quality, alignment with national standards, and its contribution to the province’s physician recruitment strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Screen applicants to confirm eligibility for the PRA‑BC program.
• Align PRA‑BC processes with the Medical Council of Canada’s National Assessment Collaboration and Pan‑Canadian Family Medicine standards.
• Lead quality‑assurance activities for Clinical Field Assessments, including liaison with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC and other regulatory bodies.
• Maintain and update assessment standards, reports, and documentation.
• Collaborate with the PRA‑BC Program Manager, Steering Committee, and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Board‑certified family physician with a strong clinical background.
• Demonstrated strategic leadership and collaborative skills.
• Experience in clinical assessment, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
• Familiarity with Canadian medical licensing standards and assessment frameworks.
