About the role
The Research Assistant/Technician 3 will support daily laboratory operations, experiments, and maintenance within a multidisciplinary team focused on translational RNA vaccines and therapies. You will work closely with bioengineers, molecular biologists, and immunologists in a university research environment.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and execute cloning of new plasmids and synthesize RNA.
- Formulate RNA into nanoparticles and characterize formulations.
- Perform standard molecular and cell biology experiments on mammalian cells.
- Coordinate tissue culture of skin explants.
- Set up and conduct in vivo vaccine studies and protein expression imaging.
- Assist in developing novel techniques and troubleshooting experiments.
- Compile data, prepare reports, and contribute to scientific manuscripts.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Ship hazardous and non‑hazardous reagents according to TDG regulations.
Required profile
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory safety.
- Effective communication with graduate students, staff, and external collaborators.
Required skills
- Plasmid cloning and RNA synthesis.
- Nanoparticle formulation of RNA.
- Molecular biology techniques (PCR, gel electrophoresis, etc.).
- Cell culture and tissue culture of skin explants.
- In vivo vaccine study design and imaging of protein expression.
- Data analysis and report preparation.
- Laboratory equipment maintenance.
- Hazardous material handling and TDG compliance.
