Research Assistant/Technician 3 – Molecular & Cellular Lab

About the role

The Research Assistant/Technician 3 will support daily laboratory operations, experiments, and maintenance within a multidisciplinary team focused on translational RNA vaccines and therapies. You will work closely with bioengineers, molecular biologists, and immunologists in a university research environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute cloning of new plasmids and synthesize RNA.
• Formulate RNA into nanoparticles and characterize formulations.
• Perform standard molecular and cell biology experiments on mammalian cells.
• Coordinate tissue culture of skin explants.
• Set up and conduct in vivo vaccine studies and protein expression imaging.
• Assist in developing novel techniques and troubleshooting experiments.
• Compile data, prepare reports, and contribute to scientific manuscripts.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Ship hazardous and non‑hazardous reagents according to TDG regulations.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory safety.
• Effective communication with graduate students, staff, and external collaborators.

Required skills

• Plasmid cloning and RNA synthesis.
• Nanoparticle formulation of RNA.
• Molecular biology techniques (PCR, gel electrophoresis, etc.).
• Cell culture and tissue culture of skin explants.
• In vivo vaccine study design and imaging of protein expression.
• Data analysis and report preparation.
• Laboratory equipment maintenance.
• Hazardous material handling and TDG compliance.
