About the role
The University of British Columbia’s MS Clinical Trials Support Division is seeking a Research Assistant/Technician II to join the MS & NMO Clinical Trials Group. Working in the Djajad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health, you will support the planning, execution, and monitoring of clinical studies focused on Multiple Sclerosis and Neuromyelitis Optica.
Key responsibilities
- Communicate with study participants, manage phone and email inquiries.
- Schedule and confirm subject visits according to protocol, reporting missed appointments.
- Coordinate recruitment, appointment scheduling, and develop visit calendars.
- Perform Multiple Sclerosis Functional Composite testing and oversee Optical Coherence Tomography testing, including staff training.
- Process blood, urine, and CSF samples, package specimens for international shipment, and maintain tracking records.
- Execute all trial‑specific procedures, flag protocol deviations, and report enrollment or conduct issues to the Study Coordinator.
Required profile
- Experience working in a clinical research environment, preferably with neurology trials.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple participant schedules.
- Attention to detail for sample handling and data documentation.
- Effective communication with participants and research team members.
Required skills
- Multiple Sclerosis Functional Composite (MSFC) testing.
- Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scheduling and operation.
- Blood, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) sample processing.
- Specimen packaging for international shipping.
