Relief Galley Cook – Seasonal Position

About the role

Northumberland Ferries Limited is looking for motivated individuals to join its Relief Galley Cook pool. This casual, on‑call position supports the ferry’s onboard hospitality team by preparing and serving meals to crew members and approved visitors while the vessel operates between Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals for crew and approved visitors.
• Operate the vessel’s galley safely and efficiently.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and sanitation.
• Follow food safety regulations and safe handling practices.
• Clean and sanitize equipment, preparation areas, and storage spaces.
• Monitor inventory, assist with stock rotation, and support inventory control.
• Work independently while collaborating with the vessel’s crew.

Required profile

• Experience in cooking, food preparation, catering, restaurant, institutional kitchen, or food service (preferred but not required).
• Safe Food Handling Certification (asset).
• Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safety, cleanliness, and customer service.
• Physical capability to work in a demanding marine environment.
