Python & Infra Developer (Terraform & AWS)

About the role

Optave is looking for a senior Python & Infrastructure Developer to join its Calgary office. You will build and maintain back‑end services in Python while designing, deploying, and managing the company’s AWS environment using Terraform.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and maintain Terraform modules for multi‑tenant AWS deployments.
• Develop Python automation scripts, tools, and services for deployments, data workflows, and operational tasks.
• Provision and operate data stores for the RAG system, including OpenSearch, vector databases, and Amazon Neptune.
• Design, implement, and manage AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Redis, WAF, VPC, and IAM in the ca‑central‑1 region.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions for both application and infrastructure code.
• Implement security and compliance controls (IAM, encryption, network controls, logging) to meet SOC 2 and federal requirements.

Required profile

• 4+ years of production Python development with clean, tested, maintainable code.
• 3+ years of hands‑on Terraform experience in production environments.
• Deep knowledge of AWS services, IAM, VPC design, and managed service failure modes.
• Strong Git workflow and CI/CD experience.
• Comfort working in a regulated environment and producing required documentation.
