Project Director (Contract) – Toronto

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Project Director to lead large‑scale, high‑priority projects for an insurance client in Toronto. This contract position (CAD $80‑$100 per hour) will oversee end‑to‑end delivery, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives while collaborating with senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the execution of complex projects and programs, managing resources, vendors and stakeholder expectations.
• Define project scope, goals, timelines and deliverables; develop charters, detailed plans and communication strategies.
• Track milestones, manage risks and issues, implement contingency plans and monitor budgets to stay within cost targets.
• Provide analysis and insights for executive decision‑making; prepare and present updates to senior leadership, committees or boards.
• Mentor and guide project teams, monitor performance, ensure quality deliverables and drive accountability in a matrixed environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce or a related field.
• 10+ years of project/program management experience, with a proven track record of delivering large, complex projects across the full lifecycle.
• Strong expertise in scope, cost and schedule management.
• Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
• High level of influencing, negotiation and conflict‑resolution abilities.

Required skills

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (required).
• Relevant certifications in domain expertise (e.g., insurance, transformation).
