Municipal Law Enforcement Officer II

About the role

The Town of Caledon seeks a dedicated Municipal Law Enforcement Officer II to enforce a wide range of by‑laws and protect community standards. Reporting to the Municipal Law Enforcement Supervisor, you will investigate compliance, issue notices, and educate the public on municipal regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate properties and businesses for compliance with zoning, property standards, animal control, noise, traffic, and other municipal by‑laws.
• Issue Notices of Violation, Orders, and Provincial Offences Act processes, and apply Administrative Monetary Penalties through AMPS.
• Prepare detailed investigation reports and enter data into the AMANDA system.
• Communicate corrective actions to property owners, occupants, and licensees.
• Coordinate joint investigations with agencies such as OPP, TRCA, CVC, NEC, and MECP.
• Supervise contractors performing remedial enforcement actions.
• Provide backup animal‑control duties and support special projects as needed.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Criminology, or related field.
• Minimum three (3) years of municipal by‑law enforcement experience.
• Completion of OAPSO Part 1 and/or MLEOA Part 1 foundations course.
• Certification as a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer (MLEO©) or Certified Property Standards Officer (CPSO) is an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the AMANDA investigation reporting system.
• Experience using the Administrative Monetary Penalty System (AMPS).
