Mechanical Product Development Engineer

About the role

Inertia is seeking a Mechanical Product Development Engineer to join its multidisciplinary team in Toronto. You will work closely with strategists, designers, engineers, and manufacturers to create innovative mechanical and electromechanical products from concept to launch.

Key responsibilities

• Design and engineer practical mechanical and electromechanical solutions with a focus on manufacturability and user satisfaction.
• Plan, execute, and document design, build, testing, and prototyping activities for new products.
• Gather and translate customer and end‑user requirements using systematic research methods.
• Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal peers to identify and implement sound design solutions.
• Balance project scope, budget, schedule, and deliverables while coordinating manufacturing partners and in‑house assembly teams.
• Promote and use Inertia’s Quality Management System and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support workplace health, safety, and wellness initiatives.

Required profile

• University degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience designing complex, multi‑disciplinary physical products.
• Proven ability to apply mechanical and manufacturing engineering fundamentals to solve complex design challenges.
