Mechanical Design Engineer – Robotics & Automation

About the role

Mycionics is looking for a versatile Mechanical Design Engineer to join its mechanical design team. You will take robotic equipment concepts – such as end‑effectors and material‑handling systems for mushroom harvesting – from initial idea through to full production.

Key responsibilities

• Design complex assemblies in SolidWorks, including sheet‑metal parts, weldments and machined components.
• Select and size electric and pneumatic actuators, motors and sensors based on load calculations.
• Create detailed 2‑D production drawings, accurate Bills of Materials and tolerancing packages for manufacturing.
• Use 3D printing and rapid‑prototyping to validate designs and iterate quickly.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure parts are produced correctly and delivered on schedule.

Required profile

• 2–3+ years of full‑time industry experience with independent responsibility.
• Adaptable and resilient in a fast‑moving startup environment.
• Detail‑oriented and able to verify fits and tolerances before release.
• Clear communicator who can work with multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Advanced SolidWorks CAD proficiency.
• Experience integrating electric and pneumatic actuators, motors and sensors.
• Strong knowledge of sheet‑metal design, weldments and CNC machining processes.
• Ability to produce precise 2‑D drawings and comprehensive Bills of Materials.
• Familiarity with 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques.
