Legal & Compliance Assistant (Contract)

About the role

PetroChina International Canada Trading (PCIC) is looking for a junior‑to‑mid‑level Legal & Compliance Assistant to support its legal team. The role involves managing non‑business contracts, performing compliance tasks such as KYC and banking verification, and coordinating with immigration lawyers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end‑to‑end process for non‑business contracts, from purchase approval to execution.
• Track expiry dates of subscription agreements and other contracts, notifying relevant stakeholders.
• Register new counterparties, gather required information and conduct KYC checks.
• Perform banking verifications and maintain accurate records.
• Handle record‑keeping, records management and respond to audit requests.
• Prepare and submit regulatory filings as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
• At least 2 years of applicable work experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent proofreading and editing abilities.
• High attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Experience with document management software.
