Junior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

As a Junior Mechanical Engineer at Smartrend Manufacturing Group, you will work hands‑on with mechanical products from concept through prototype, testing and production. You’ll support design assignments, build and evaluate prototypes, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to bring ideas to market.

Key responsibilities

• Support mechanical design assignments for products, components and assemblies using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
• Create and revise 3D models, assemblies, production drawings and engineering documentation.
• Build and evaluate prototypes, and assist with verification and validation testing.
• Document test results, support troubleshooting and root‑cause investigations.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain to implement design changes and transition products to manufacturing.

Required profile

• Hands‑on approach to mechanical design with strong curiosity and problem‑solving skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accurate designs, drawings and documentation.
• Effective communication and collaboration across engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 2‑3 years of relevant experience.

Required skills

• SolidWorks or comparable CAD software (3D modelling, assemblies, production drawings).
• Knowledge of GD&T and design‑for‑manufacturing principles.
• Understanding of engineering drawings and documentation.
