About the role

The Junior Desktop & System Support Technician will ensure the stability and integrity of our operating system server environment while providing day‑to‑day support for workstations and specialized equipment. This entry‑level position offers the chance to work closely with the IT team, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of our technology infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and upgrade the operating system server environment, including planning, testing and scheduling of software releases.
  • Set up and administer workstations and servers, manage disk‑space planning, and maintain growth forecasts.
  • Perform data backups, recoveries, and manage tape libraries and hardware/software inventories.
  • Purchase and install software and hardware according to corporate standards and licensing requirements.
  • Install and configure network‑attached equipment and ensure proper operation of desktop software, anti‑virus, and PC management tools.
  • Support specialized systems such as local MRP/ERP, time‑and‑attendance, QA equipment, door controllers, buzzers, and the local phone system.
  • Respond to Service Desk tickets, troubleshoot desktop problems, and act as the “face of IT” for the designated facility.
  • Prepare regular reports, monitor service metrics, and evaluate user support data.

Required profile

  • Post‑secondary education in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).
  • Current Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification is an asset.
  • Familiarity with ITIL and ITSM frameworks (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of Windows Desktop OS, Microsoft Office, Dell hardware and basic networking concepts.
  • Ability to read and follow equipment manuals, policies and procedures.
