IT Technician – Help Desk & Field Support

About the role

Baffinland is seeking an IT Technician to provide comprehensive help‑desk and field support for its remote mining operations on Baffin Island. The role combines desktop troubleshooting, equipment provisioning, and on‑site infrastructure maintenance in a challenging Arctic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver general IT help‑desk support, triage requests, assign tickets and monitor trends.
• Maintain inventory of all IT assets, create purchase requisitions and manage shipments.
• Provision phones, voicemail systems and Baffinland cellular devices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues on workstations, printers and other user equipment.
• Install and maintain structured cabling, equipment on towers and masts, and server‑room infrastructure.
• Create, modify and delete user accounts and access rights as directed.
• Participate in project work, maintain conference facilities and IT storage areas.
• Dispose of electronic waste, enforce security policies and operate site equipment such as man lifts and skid steers safely.
