Internal Auditor – Montreal

About the role

Domtar is seeking a bilingual Internal Auditor to join its Compliance team in Montreal. The role involves conducting operational, financial, compliance and strategic audits across the company’s North‑American operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and report end‑to‑end audit engagements, including risk assessment, testing and follow‑up.
• Identify internal control gaps and provide actionable recommendations to improve processes.
• Document business processes using flowcharts and narratives.
• Perform Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) compliance testing and support investigations or special projects.
• Communicate audit findings and progress to stakeholders at all levels.
• Monitor remediation actions and reassess risk exposure on an ongoing basis.
• Manage multiple audit priorities in a dynamic environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in internal audit, compliance or a similar function.
• Fully bilingual in English and French.
• Professional certification such as CPA (preferred), CISA, CIA or CFE.
• Willingness to travel 10‑15 % across Canada and the United States.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or JDE.
• Familiarity with data‑analytics tools for pattern and risk identification.
• Strong knowledge of internal controls, risk assessment, SOX requirements, US GAAP and IFRS.
