Heavy Duty Cleaner

About the role

GDI Services is seeking a reliable Heavy Duty Cleaner to join its facility maintenance team in Waterloo. This part‑time role works overnight, ensuring that all floor surfaces, restrooms and common areas are kept clean and presentable for clients and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Sweep, mop and wash hard floors, stairs and other interior surfaces.
• Strip and wax floors, steam‑clean carpets and clean windows on request.
• Maintain restrooms: wipe glass, empty waste baskets, restock paper products and clean fixtures.
• Collect building trash daily, replace liners and place containers in the designated collection area.
• Perform high‑dusting, wall washing and operate heavy‑duty cleaning machines, lifting loads up to 50 lb.
• Report any defects such as clogged urinals or non‑functional lights to the supervisor.

Required profile

• Ability to follow directions, work with minimal supervision and cooperate as part of a team.
• Own reliable transportation to travel between the two buildings.
• Willingness to pass a criminal background check.
• Attention to detail and high energy to sustain an overnight shift.

Required skills

• Use cleaning tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Operate heavy‑duty cleaning machines (e.g., floor scrubbers, steam cleaners).
