Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer/Civil Engineer to support major geotechnical and geo‑environmental projects, including investigation, design and construction.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and coordinate geotechnical and civil engineering tasks for remediation and infrastructure projects such as cutoff walls, mines, landfills, bridge foundations, roadways, retaining walls, excavations, and solidification.
• Write design reports and memos and develop design drawings and technical specifications.
• Conduct engineering calculations including slope stability, settlement, and finite element analysis.
• Develop and coordinate field investigation programs and complete on‑site investigation and construction assignments.
• Coordinate laboratory testing programs, analyze test results, review boring logs and create subsurface soil profiles.
• Collaborate effectively with project teams and manage tasks toward project manager or technical lead roles.
• Travel to project sites, including remote mine locations in the U.S. and Canada, and apply behavior‑based safety tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in geotechnical, remediation, mining or infrastructure design and construction.
• Willingness to travel to remote project sites in the U.S. and Canada.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Required skills

• CAD software (preferred).
• Geotechnical analysis software such as Plaxis, RocScience, and GeoStudio.
• Microsoft Office suite.
• Slope stability, settlement, and finite element analysis techniques.
