Family School Liaison Worker (Probationary, 0.7 FTE)

About the role

The St. Augustine Catholic School in Ponoka is seeking a Probationary Family School Liaison Worker to support the social, emotional, spiritual, and mental well‑being of its students. Working closely with students, families, staff and community partners, the liaison will help connect families to appropriate services and deliver short‑term support programs.

Key responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with students, families, staff and community agencies.
• Connect families to external supports and services as needed.
• Provide short‑term counseling and crisis intervention for students.
• Design and deliver programming on mental health, social skills and healthy relationships.
• Coordinate mentorship programmes and assist with school‑wide intervention planning.
• Collaborate with the school intervention team on attendance, confidentiality, behaviour management and crisis response.

Required profile

• Degree in Social Work, Education or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in counseling, social work, child and youth care or education.
• Ability to consult on mental‑health, trauma, grief, self‑regulation and related topics.
• Commitment to Catholic values and the faith life of the school.
• Willingness to undergo recent criminal‑record and vulnerable‑sector checks.
