About the role
The Faculty Lifecycle Coordinator serves as the School of Engineering’s internal expert on all matters related to faculty recruitment, appointments, reappointments, promotion, tenure and retirement. Reporting to the administration team, the role ensures that every step of the faculty lifecycle is managed consistently, on schedule, and in full compliance with university policies and collective agreements.
Key responsibilities
- Advise academic leaders, committees and faculty members on recruitment, appointment, promotion, tenure and retirement processes.
- Manage documentation, timelines and procedural requirements for all faculty lifecycle actions at the school level.
- Interpret university and collective‑agreement policies and translate them into clear, school‑specific procedures.
- Provide decision‑support and risk assessments to ensure accurate and timely processing of ARPT (Appointment, Reappointment, Promotion, Tenure) activities.
- Coordinate with HR and faculty‑relations partners across both UBC Okanagan and Vancouver campuses.
Required profile
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with professional judgment.
- Strong knowledge of higher‑education HR policies, collective agreements and faculty governance.
- Experience supporting academic leadership and navigating bi‑campus structures.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
