About the role
The York Region District School Board is seeking a dedicated Elementary Long‑Term Occasional (LTO) teacher to lead a Grade 8 homeroom. This full‑time, 100% position supports student achievement through high‑quality instruction and a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess curriculum for Grade 8 students in accordance with provincial standards.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavioural reports.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to enhance learning outcomes.
- Participate in school-wide events, parent‑teacher conferences, and professional development activities.
Required profile
- Member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or in the process of becoming qualified before the start date.
- Provide at least three professional teaching references (or two for internal candidates, one of which must be a YRDSB administrator).
- Successful completion of a satisfactory police record check.
- Relevant teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to student success.
