Elementary Grade 6 Homeroom Teacher (Long Term Occasional)

About the role

The York Region District School Board is seeking a dedicated Elementary Grade 6 Homeroom Teacher on a Long Term Occasional (LTO) basis. This full‑time position involves delivering the Ontario elementary curriculum, fostering a supportive learning environment, and contributing to student success.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess daily lessons for Grade 6 students.
• Maintain classroom management and a safe, inclusive atmosphere.
• Collaborate with grade team, specialists, and administrators to support student learning.
• Record student progress and communicate outcomes to parents and guardians.
• Participate in school events, professional development, and staff meetings.

Required profile

• Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or in the process of obtaining certification before the start date.
• Three professional teaching references (or two for internal candidates, one must be a YRDSB administrator).
• Successful completion of a satisfactory police record check.
• Ability to work on an LTO 100% schedule as defined by the board.
