Director, Credit Risk Policy

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Director of Credit Risk Policy to lead second‑line oversight of credit risk across its global portfolio. Reporting to the SVP of Credit Risk, you will shape policy, standards and governance while ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and the company’s risk appetite.

Key responsibilities

• Provide independent second‑line oversight of credit risk across the worldwide portfolio.
• Develop, maintain and update Credit Risk Policy, underwriting and collateral standards.
• Monitor portfolio performance, concentrations and emerging risks, and produce management reporting using CRMS and Power BI.
• Ensure first‑line adherence to risk appetite, policies and guidelines, and approve material policy exceptions.
• Lead credit‑risk engagement during regulatory reviews, examinations and audits.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders in Business, Finance, Compliance and Risk to align credit‑risk frameworks.
• Mentor and develop credit‑risk talent within the function.

Required profile

• Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in credit risk management, preferably within a large financial services or payments organization.
• Proven track record of leading policy development and governance in a second‑line capacity.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and risk‑appetite frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
