Data Protection Officer (PII Compliance) – Remote Contract

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Data Protection Officer to lead our PII compliance initiatives on a contract basis. This remote position will focus on safeguarding personal data and ensuring lawful processing across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the design, implementation, and ongoing management of PII compliance protocols.
• Analyze data flows and documentation to identify, classify, and mitigate risks related to structural identifiability and non‑obvious PII.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop, review, and update privacy, data‑management, and compliance policies.
• Provide guidance and training to staff on best practices for handling sensitive documents and personally identifiable information.
• Act as the primary liaison during data‑privacy incidents, supporting rapid investigation and remediation.
• Maintain comprehensive records of processing activities to support regulatory reporting and transparency.

Required profile

• Minimum proven experience in PII compliance, handling complex and non‑trivial privacy scenarios.
• Deep understanding of GDPR and other data‑privacy regulations.
• Strong background in data‑management techniques that reduce re‑identification risk.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for conveying complex privacy concepts.
• Experience working with sensitive documents, preferably in finance or corporate environments.
