About the role

The Department of Design at MacEwan University seeks an entry‑level, full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Information Design, starting July 1, 2026. The position supports a unique, human‑centered design program that blends applied art with social science.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate information design courses and develop engaging learning activities.
• Provide constructive, respectful feedback and foster critical thinking.
• Integrate information design concepts with broader visual communication practice.
• Maintain active research or creative practice and stay current in instructional methods.
• Contribute to curriculum development and lead pedagogical initiatives in the discipline.
• Participate in university‑wide, faculty, and departmental committees.
• Collaborate with related departments such as Studio Arts, Communications Studies, Computing Science, and Mathematics.

Required profile

• Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Information Design, Graphic Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated ability to teach design‑focused courses at the university level.
• Strong record of scholarly or creative work relevant to information design.
• Commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and student mentorship.
