Application Developer

About the role

Sobeys Inc., a leading Canadian retailer, is seeking a full‑time Application Developer to join its technology team. The role can be based in Stellarton (NS), Mississauga (ON) or Calgary (AB) and focuses on designing, building and supporting business‑critical software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify functional and technical solutions to meet business requirements.
• Develop detailed functional, technical and operational specifications.
• Translate user requirements into solution designs and implement them.
• Conduct design and code reviews to ensure compliance with IT standards.
• Provide accurate effort estimates and create unit test plans.
• Code, test, and analyze software applications throughout the SDLC.
• Deliver Tier 2 production support for cloud‑based applications.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation and communicate progress to management.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant software development experience.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Required skills

• Experience developing Azure applications (containers, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions).
• Proficiency in object‑oriented design techniques.
• Unit testing and test‑case creation.
• Knowledge of cloud application support (Tier 2).
